There are two international airports which serve Costa Rica: The San Jose Airport (SJO) is in the south-central part of the country, and Liberia Airport (LIR) is in the north-western part of the country.

Los Altos de Eros is located about one hour from the Liberia Airport.

There are many airlines serving San Jose Airport, the flights are more numerous, and usually less costly than Liberia Airport. However, you would either have to rent a car and drive here (5 hours, NOT recommended), or you can catch the small regional airline Sansa for a 45 minute connecting flight to Tamarindo Airport, ($150.00 round trip) at which point we would pick you up. (Note: Sansa flies 12 seat Beechcraft Caravans)

The airlines serving Liberia Airport are Delta, United, American, Continental, and US Airways. If you fly internationally into Liberia Airport, we will pick you up just as you exit customs!

Please allow us to help you plan your trip based on our experience.

What?s our
weather like?

Well, to a certain extent, it depends when you come. Overall, we have a truly exceptional climate.

In our part of Costa Rica (Guanacaste Province) we have 2 basic "seasons"... the dry season and the green season. In late May, we begin to have our seasonal rains. Generally, this means that from late May through October we have occasional rain. (Beautiful mornings, perhaps an afternoon rain, usually clearing for great sunsets) We may have a couple of days of rain, or no rain for a week. In this period of time, temperatures are in the 80?s with nice breezes, cool refreshing evenings.

In late September, the rain begins to intensify...and in October the rain is so frequent and heavy that we close. In late October, the rain stops, and there is nothing but sunshine until the following May. November, December, and January are beautiful... low humidity. The wind blows hard in February and some of March. March and April are the hottest months of the year, but with very little humidity in the air it is quite comfortable.

Let us know when you plan to visit, and we can provide you with more detail of what that month?s weather may be like.

What should we plan to bring to Costa Rica?
Overall, it is a very casual country.

Costa Rica is a pretty laid back country. Lightweight clothing, shorts, SPF 30 sunblock, good walking or hiking footwear. Depending on the time of year, you may want to bring along a small umbrella, the kind that would fit easily into your suitcase. If you like to "dress up" then bring along appropriate clothes for dinners here and in town. The favored currency here is US dollars, and they are accepted here for everything. Merchants generally will NOT accept personal checks (and they don?t like Traveller?s Cheques!) because it often takes a couple of months time for them to clear. We accept major credit cards (Visa/MC/AmEx), but many places do not.

Prior to your visit, we would be happy to go into more detail with you as to what to bring and what to expect. Contact Us!
